Anorak 'happy mag for kids'

Final design for the magazine. I personally feel i could have resolved & produced a stronger illustration. I spend to long on this brief, during this project i have been learning more skills on illustartor & found myself using it more & more when i mayb should have taken a step back and consistered using prodomately my drawing skills & just touched up on the mac afterwards.

Just had some consctructive feedback from my crit, although i have drawn a varity of characters based on the winter theme, i have used alot of pen & pencil and need to look at thickness of line more and use of media. The composition is poor, i have not broken out of the frame i have created, i need to begin looking at cropping into my illustration to make it look more interesting. The characters & colouring are to traditional, maybe more suitable for a chocolate xmas calendar(not the resolution intend to create). I need to go back to my initial sketchs.

Things to do;

Work with composition
Back to drawing board, working on character design
Colour

This is where i am up to for thew final design for the anorak cover. I will be showing this in my my crit aswel as the character development and initial ideas.

Anorak colour tests

The Anorak magazine has a cover usually has a frame around the illustration so i have selected a variety of colours to see what one colud be potentially used, if i used one at all? Some of the colours i have selected are from some of the characters just to see if it would keep the consistanty.

Now that i have coloured some of the winter characters for the magazine cover i have creaed a few variations changing the characters infront & behind eachother, opposite sides of the tree to see what composition colud possibly be stronger.

Anorak colouring process

Photoshop colouring process of pengiun character. I have learnt a new colouring process on photoshop so have shown a little step by step of the progression when colouring the penguin character. I feel it gives the character a bit more of a 3D form.

Anorak layout development

Anorak development of characters

Anorak initial ideas

Initial ideas for the Anorak winter theme magazine cover. Thinking of possible backgrounds i looked at creating some happy mountains aswell as my initial sketchs consist of winter characters such as winter kids with big bomber jackets and having snow ball fights, i also looked at other possible character like big foot and yeti's and what shape they would be?
