Evaluation

1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

The skills i feel i have developed through this module are selecting appropriate briefs to improve my knowledge and design practice studying character design. The briefs i selected look at character across a variety of contexts such as animation idents, promotion, point of sale, illustration but also using character in different mediums such as 3D form.
One thing i wanted to improve at the beginning of this module was the execution of my final resolutions, i have improved alot more using better photography equipment and lighting to give the solution justice on a presentation board.

2. What approaches to generating work and solutions to problems have you developed and how have they helped?

My main approach to design work is pen on paper, alot of sketchwork and idea generation/development. I find this my best way of expressioning an ides aswel as accidents happening which can sometimes lead to the final solution. I feel by knowing what context i was putting character into helped massivley with my development and keep me on the right track in terms of answering the briefs.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

I feel my strength's through this module were generating ideas, and selecting the appropriate briefs for my design practice. I feel i have developmented my character design skills by applying character to a variety of context from print to screen. As i want to specialise in character design/illustration I will apply character to a wide variety of contexts and mediums to design fun and conceptual resolutions.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how could you exploit these more fully?

The weaknesses i have identified after this module is that i need to make design decisions quicker even if its the wrong decision i would still have enough time to correct it. I have said this each year in my evaluations but i still need to be more organised, although i a alot more than i was there's still alot of room for improvement

5.Identify five things that you will do different next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?

To maintain to postings on my blog and annotate them more.

To organise my work, this would enable no time wasted on backtracking, re-naming or losing files, design sheets.

I would have tested alot more stock possibilities to see other possible outcomes.

Resolve briefs quicker

Document what & who designers/designs im looking at

6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas: (please indicate
using an ‘x’) 5= excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = average, 1 = poor
